February 14. Syl and I made a batch of cookies. But, he was wafted away mid butter wrapper counting and so no pictures were taken. BUT the cookies were sooo good. We got the recipe from HERE, but we skipped the sugar and corn syrup and instead cooked down about 3/4 c syrup until it was just past softball (by guestimates) added this to the butter. I also added a pinch of baking soda.
Button books were featured on the craftzine blog. Luckily Becca Mack gave us a pile of glued up buttons she got from another friend. These buttons became the covers of the accordion paged little tomes. We decorated them with stickers and safety envelope patterns.
The dates on these pictures are sooo wrong. This is roundabout February 15 with big bro sick in bed.

Idea and Questions Jar
Sol, Syl and I wrote down ideas and questions and put them in a jar. Not sure what we will do with them next...
The iphone got dropped in the lake. The home button stopped working. A replacement was bought. Months later, I lost the fear, opened up the old one a replaced the button. Now it works! Yeah. BUT I lost the pictures of a couple "makes." So here it is. Final product not process. Process is here: http://marissalouise.com/wordpress/2011/beehive-cobweb-card-tutorial/

Pizza
Pizza recipe:
1 pkg yeast, mix with 1tsp sugar and 1/2 c. warm water. Let Proof. Add 1 1/2 - 2 cups flour, 3 tsps salt and 2 tsps oil mix until a nice dough is formed knead in the bowl a bit and then let it rest for 10 min while you prep your favorite sauce, cheese and toppings. Gently stretch the dough to fit your pan (no tugging) pre bake for 5 minutes at 375 just so it doesn't soggy up. Add toppings and bake until done 10-15 minutes.
Tonight we actually went to Sol's band performance so the pizza post is from a different day.

Ice Sculptures
January 17th. (MLK day)
Really cold and extra kids at the house day so here's a project courtesy of Brian Perkins.
Fill containers with water and waterbased paint for color, don't put the top on.
Let freeze.
Build into a sculpture. This works well when it is really really cold.
light candles.
Making Breakfast
Sylvan chopped up the red peppers and diligently toasted and buttered english muffins for everyone.
A Drawing
It is not making things that is hard, it is posting them. So here is Thursday, January 13.
There is a name for this drawing but it has fallen into the dark hole in my brain. Basically each person takes a turn adding on to the last persons drawing, but you don't get to see what they did.

Number Grid Game
Also from Steven Caney's Toy Book.
draw the grid, add numbers from 1-9 at random
Starting at the center square with a bean, jump
the number on the square in one direction only trying to exit the grid on an exact number. If you hit the edge in the middle of the count change direction and keep going. You will find different number paths leading you around the grid.
Quite soothing.
